Pet Policy

We are pleased to allow pets at the Baker Lofts. However, to ensure everyone's safety and a clean property, we do have some rules and regulations that must be followed.

There will be an annual pet fee of $100 per loft for owner occupied units and a $200 per loft annual fee for rental units to offset the cost associated with maintenance and enforcement.

1. All pets must be registered through Ottawa County (https://www.miottawa.org/DogLicense/) and with the Baker Lofts. Please supply The Baker Lofts with the following information:

  • Owner Name and Loft Number
  • Identifying description and/or a picture of the pet
  • Copy of dog license
  • Emergency contact information
  • Veterinarian & Vaccination Information

Information can be sent to us at The Baker Lofts, 200 North Franklin, Zeeland MI 49464, faxed to 616.748.5702, or emailed to info@bakerlofts.com.

2. Pets are not permitted on common property of Baker Lofts premises unless on a leash or in a cage/carrier. Common property includes, but is not limited to, hallways, parking lots, and outdoor green spaces.

3. Tenants are responsible for keeping all common areas clean, safe and free of parasites. Pet owners must immediately pick up and dispose of all pet waste. Owners found responsible by the Board of not cleaning up will be asked to remove their pets permanently.

4. The tenant shall be liable for any damage or injury whatsoever caused by pet(s) and shall pay the Association immediately for any costs incurred as a result of damage or injury caused.

5. The tenant accepts full responsibility and indemnifies the association for any claims by or injuries to third parties or their property caused by or as a result of actions by their pet(s).

6. Owners must maintain appropriate tags for all pets. It is unlawful in Ottawa County for a person to own a dog six months or older that does not wear a collar and tag at all times, except when engaged in hunting activities accompanied by his or her owner.

7. No pet is to remain unattended, without proper care, for more than 24 hours. In instances where a pet appears to have been abandoned for more than 24 hours, and an emergency contact cannot be located, the Association shall report the matter to the Ottawa County Animal Control (http://www.miottawa.org/CourtsLE/Sheriff/animalcontrol.htm).

8. Pets are NOT allowed in the grilling area on the patio. Pets must stay outside the pines in the grassy area. This is to ensure a clean and safe environment for those preparing and consuming food in that area.

9. If a pet bites another tenant, the owner will be asked to remove the pet from the building immediately and permanently and the incident will be reported to Ottawa County Animal COntrol (http://www.miottawa.org/CourtsLE/Sheriff/animalcontrol.htm).

10. If the Association receives multiple complaints regarding your pet(s), the Association may ask you to remove your pet(s) from the building permanently.

11. Visiting pets are bound by the same rules and are not allowed to remain on the premise for more than 48 hours in a given week.

If you have a question about these policies or have a complaint about a pet in the building, please send an email to info@bakerlofts.com or fax 616.748.5702.
